Symmetry

This chapter explores symmetry. It looks at shapes which are symmetrical and reflecting simple shapes in a mirror line. No prior knowledge is required for this chapter.
In the world there are lots of symmetrical shapes take for example the butterfly below. A butterfly is symmetrical in that each wing is the same to the opposite wing. Symmetrical shapes are shapes which can be divided into two equal parts. For example the butterfly below is symmetrical.

The red line drawn in the middle of the butterfly or the dividing line is called the line of symmetry. Another example is the butterfly below which also has the line of symmetry.

Even certain shapes on the human body are symmetrical for example the shape of the human head shown below.

The line of symmetry is also shown drawn in the middle of the head above.
The pattern below has the half of it missing. The red line drawn at the end of the shape is the line of symmetry.

Suppose we wanted to finish the rest of the shape.
