\[ y = 12 + 4x \]
Move 12 to the left hand side to get;
\[ y – 12 = 4x \]
The divide both sides by 4 to get;
\[ \frac{y – 12}{4} = x \]
It does not matter if x comes first because it is the same;
\[ x = \frac{y – 12}{4} \]
